The AUS conference will once again prove to be competitive, and the X-Men will face Montreal and McGill in interlock games. They are looking to add more Ws to the win column after posting a 3-5 regular season record last season, but were able to grab second place after finishing in a tie with Acadia. StFX held the head-to-head record against the Axemen (2-0) in league play. The X-Men return virtually their entire team from their starting roster of the latter half of the 2007 season, with the one key loss being AUS all-star defensive back Jon Hood. They return quarterback Steve Snyder along with AUS offensive all-stars James Green, Steve Myddelton and Jeremy Marchand and CIS East-West Bowl corner back Kwasi Nkansah. Head Coach John Bloomfield has had a good recruiting season, improving depth across all positions. He saw action in all 8 X-Men regular season games last season and was 4th in the AUS is passing with 75 completions and an average of 140.2 yds/game. TB James Green returns for his 4th season. He is an AUS all-star, East-West Bowl participant and was second in the league in rushing last season averaging 93.6 yds/game. WR Akeem Foster returns to the lineup for his 3rd season after being ineligible last year. In 2006, he had 18 receptions for 333 yards, averaging 2.57 receptions/game and 47.6 yds/game. OL Steve Myddelton returns for his 4th season. He is an AUS all-star, East-West Bowl participant and is one of the top ranked offensive lineman in the country for the upcoming CFL draft. OL Stewart Walsh returns for his second year. He was the AUS Rookie of the Year last season and had an impressive first year with the X-Men, starting in all 8 league games. SB Jeremy Marchand returns for his 5th season. A captain and team leader with the X-Men, he is a three-time AUS all-star. Key recruits (or newcomers: transfers): FB Ryan Olsen (Manchester, NH) previously played at Trinity High School where he was an all-state player and played in the state all-star game. OL Tyler Scott (Ottawa ON) previously played junior football with the Ottawa Sooners where he was the top O-Lineman on a team coached by former X-Men Mike McCarthy and Bino Cesario. Key losses: FB Geoff Bacheyie played high school football for Coach Bloomfield in Windsor, ON and earned a scholarship to the University of Indianapolis before transferring to StFX in 2004. Unfortunately was injured during much of his career at StFX. Defence Key returning players: CB Kwasi Nkansah returns for his 4th season. An East-West Bowl participant, he had 2 interceptions for the X-Men last season and was second in team tackling with 32.5 tackles on the season. LB Tom Lynch returns for his 2nd season. He was the defensive player of the year for the team last season and had 21.5 tackles on the season. DE Yahia Dalloul returns for his 4th season. He had 27.5 tackles last season and 2 sacs for the blue and white. Key recruits (or newcomers: transfers): DB Dylan Hollohan (Moncton, NB) previously played at Bernice McNaughton High School where he was the football player of the year and the schools Athlete of the Year. He is also a kick returner. LB James Albidone (Sioux Ste. Marie, ON) previously played senior football and is transferring from Lakehead University. Key losses: DL Shane Sastaunik a three-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines, Shane missed the latter half of the 2007 season with a broken leg. DB Jon Hood an AUS all-star last season, he saw time on defense and punt/kick returns and led the X-Men in all purpose stats.
