OTTAWA (CIS) - The top of the leaderboard remains unchanged this week in CIS soccer and rugby.

The reigning CIS champion Trinity Western Spartans lead the women's soccer coaches poll for the fourth time in four weeks, the Montreal Carabins are ranked No. 1 in the country in men's soccer for the second straight week, while the two-time defending national champion Lethbridge Pronghorns have topped all three women's rugby polls thus far in 2009.

In women's soccer, the Spartans (3-0) remained perfect in conference play with an impressive 3-1 road win over No. 9-UBC last Saturday.

The Montreal Carabins (4-0), CIS bronze medallists a year ago, and Victoria Vikes (3-0) also kept their unblemished records intact over the past weekend to hold on to the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively. Montreal edged Sherbrooke 2-1 and No. 10-Laval 1-0, while Victoria dominated Calgary 4-1 and Lethbridge 3-0.

Rounding out the fourth women's soccer Top 10 of the campaign are No. 4-Brock (3-0-1), Wilfrid Laurier (3-0-1) and Ottawa (4-0-2), which find themselves tied for fifth place, No. 7-StFX (3-0), No. 8-Cape Breton (2-1-1), No. 9-UBC (1-1-1) and No. 10-Laval (3-1).

Brock and Laurier battled to a 1-1 draw on Friday.

In men's soccer, the 2008 CIS third-place finisher Carabins (3-0-1) remained unbeaten in QSSF action with a 3-0 victory over Sherbrooke and a 2-0 shutout of archrival Laval. Montreal took over the No. 1 spot from the defending national champion York Lions last week.

The Victoria Vikes (3-0-1) move up two positions to No. 2 in the new poll following a 3-2 defeat of Saskatchewan and a 1-1 tie against No. 6-Alberta (2-0-2). The Trinity Western Spartans (2-0-2), last year's CIS finalists, remain at No. 3.

After falling to No. 2 a week ago, York (2-2) drops two more positions after being upset 4-3 by Windsor. The Lions are now tied with Dalhousie (2-0-1) at No. 4.

Meanwhile, three OUA teams make their way into the Top 10 for the first time in ages. No.-7 Laurentian (4-0-1) and No. 10-Guelph (3-0-1) hadn't been ranked nationally in over a decade, while No. 9-Waterloo's (3-0-1) last appearance in the CIS poll dated back to 2003 (No. 5 for one week).

Rounding out the new men's soccer Top 10 is No. 8-UNB (2-0-2).

In women's rugby, the No. 1-Pronghorns (0-0) finally kick off conference play Friday night when they host Calgary.

The No. 2-StFX X-Women, No. 3-Guelph Gryphons and No. 4-Laval Rouge et Or all improved to 2-0 on the season last weekend.

StFX, CIS silver medallist in 2008, crushed Acadia 85-7. Guelph, which defeated Laval last fall to claim CIS bronze, outscored Waterloo 48-5. The Rouge et Or blanked McGill 34-0.

Following in order in the third coaches poll of the campaign are No. 5-Concordia (2-0), No. 6-Western Ontario (2-0), No. 7-Alberta (0-0), No. 8-McMaster (2-0), No. 9-Queen's (2-0) and No. 10-Brock (1-1).
