SUDBURY, Ont.--The Aqua Vees and Lady Vees are coming off a tough home meet October 16th and 17th and looking to carry the energy of a win against Brock and a loss against previous OUA Champs McMaster, into this weekend's duel in the pool against the Waterloo Warriors in southern Ontario.
On the men's side, Aqua Vees veterans Marshall Bonner and Colin Jenkins look to continue making big waves as they won 9 of ten races last weekend against McMaster and Brock. Marshall qualified for the CIS Swim Champs with his swims in the 50 BK (26.69) and 100 BK (57.95). Rounding out the rest of the Voyageurs line up against Waterloo will be vets Ryan Smith, Willie Paul, Denton Bonney, Brent Poulsen, Mike Commito and Emmanual Angrand along with rookies Mike Haddock, Gord Kerslake, Thomas Demetzer and Dave Cheung. The Voyageurs will be looking to swim tough against a powerful Waterloo Warrior team.
"We are looking to improve on our race execution from last weekend." Said Head coach Phil Parker, "with the 2004 Divisional Championships drawing close, the team must stay focused and practice hard all week long."
On the women's side, rookie swimmers Dominique Lafleur and Amanda Burchert along with veteran swimmers Stephanie Kuhn and Elisha James will be looking to continue where they left off against McMaster and Brock last weekend. Dominique and Amanda had some sensational races against two tough schools last weekend. Stephanie Kuhn and Elisha James also got off to a great start with some strong early season swims. Rounding out the Lady Vees line up next weekend in Waterloo will be veteran swimmers Leila Angrand, Lauren Coughtry, Courtney Hicks, Terena Lawrie, Aina Lorberg, Tara Mowat, Ashley Nardella, Erin O'Neill, Tiffany Paul, Chantal Quirion, Jaimie Scobie and Virginia Stonehouse. Rookie Lady Vees swimmers Roxanne Arcand and Jenn Petretti will be looking to make a big splash in their first full competition with the Voyageurs.
"Racing tired is not an easy task for these guys so the team must start to come together for support," Parker continued, "These next two competitions will be their final chance at solid execution."
