CIS
and CCAA Begin Process to Investigate Strategic Alignment
Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) and Canadian Colleges
Athletic Association (CCAA) are soliciting proposals
to conduct a feasibility study and develop a business
plan with respect to building a strategic partnership
between the two organizations.
CIS and CCAA are in the business of contributing to
the Canadian sport system through student-athlete and
coach development offered in post secondary education
settings. While both organizations share similar values
and mandate, they are independent of one another in
their governance, programming and operations. Over the
years there have been some ad hoc initiatives and projects,
however, the opportunity for synergies, collaboration
and economies of scale between the CIS and CCAA remain
largely untapped.
Courtesy of funding by Sport Canada to pursue this opportunity
aimed at building capacity between the two organization,
a Request for Proposal has been prepared to engage external
and objective expertise to conduct the feasibility study,
which identifies and explores opportunities and avenues
for collaboration, synergies, economies of scale and
linkages, and to develop a business plan with next steps,
budgets, and deliverables.
One of the four goals of the Canadian Sport Policy is
"Enhanced Interaction" to make the sport system
more connected and coordinated as a result of the committed
collaboration amongst stakeholders. The premise of Enhanced
Interaction is to increase collaboration, communication,
and cooperation amongst the partners in the sport community,
which, in turn, will lead to a more effective Canadian
sport system.

Request for Proposal (RFP). The deadline
for submissions to the CIS-CCAA RFP is Wednesday,
October 7.
