Brandon University December 3rd, 2002
Ruling of Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) Discipline Committee Regarding the February 21st, 2002 self-disclosure of Brandon University
December 3rd, 2002

Discipline Committee Members:
Clint Hamilton, Athletic Director, University of New Brunswick - Chair
Drew Love, Athletic Director, Carleton University
Jean-Guy Ouellette, Université de Sherbrooke

PROCESS AND DETERMINATION:
In accordance with Section XI - Discipline of Members, Athletes and Others of the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) 2001 Operations Manual, the CIS Discipline Committee determined on November 4 that Brandon University breached CIS regulations, specifically when Brandon University allowed an ineligible student-athlete (Chris Low) to participate in a non-Conference competition against Lakehead University on December 7 & 8 2001. This determination brings the total number of ineligible players used by Brandon University during this non-conference competition to two. The first ineligible student-athlete was self-disclosed earlier this calendar year.

In accordance with Section XI, the Discipline Committee has determined that no further sanctions are to be imposed upon Mr. Jim Fuyarchuk, then head coach of the Brandon University men's hockey team. Mr. Fuyarchuk was suspended on January 29, 2002 as a result of the self-disclosed breach of the aforementioned first student. The finding that a second ineligible student-athlete participated during the same competition is considered to be a single event and therefore, a single breach, and does not warrant additional sanctions. As far as the Discipline Committee is concerned, therefore, Mr. Fuyarchuk's involvement in this matter has been resolved.
