Podloski, a fifth-year agriculture and forestry student from St. Albert, Alta., tallied 12 points in two outings over the weekend to claim the CIS scoring title and set a CIS single-season record with 61 points (23-38-61) in 24 conference games. The 22-year-old forward had back-to-back six-point performances, collecting three goals and three assists on Friday and two goals and four helpers on Saturday, as No. 3-ranked Alberta (22-2) wrapped up regular-season play with a pair of 9-1 wins over Regina to clinch first place in the Canada West standings. A second-team all-Canadian in 2006-07 and the CIS championship MVP in 2005-06, Podloski came back to the Pandas this season after a one-year absence from university hockey. Moncton volleyball player Rachelle LeBlanc, Montreal volleyball player Laetitia Tchoualack and Laurentian basketball player Darrah Bumstead were also nominated for the womens award. Town, a fourth-year kinesiology student from Winnipeg had 71 kills, 23 defensive digs and 11 blocks as the No. 9 Wesmen upset No. 3 Calgary in three matches in the opening round of the playoffs to advance to this weekends Canada West Final Four and earn a berth in the CIS championships that will be held in Edmonton from February 27 to March 1st. With the best-of-three series tied at one game apiece, the 6-foot-3 outside hitter smashed a career-high 30 kills in the decisive duel on Sunday as the two rivals battled for five sets for the third straight day, with Winnipeg finally prevailing 29-31, 26-24, 25-22, 24-26 and 15-9. Lattaquante de 22 ans a connu des performances conscutives de six points, amassant trois buts et trois passes vendredi et deux buts et quatre assistances samedi, alors que lAlberta (22-2), classe troisime au Top 10 canadien, mettait un terme sa saison rgulire avec deux gains de 9-1 aux dpens de Regina pour dcrocher le premier rang au classement de Canada-Ouest.
