Pruneau, a fourth-year education student from Windsor, Que. excelled both on offence and defence this past weekend tallying 31 kills and 26 digs to lead the No. 8 ranked Vert & Or (16-5) to a pair of crucial five-set wins over No. 5 Montreal (18-3) and defending CIS finalist Laval. The five-foot-seven hitter, named CIS rookie of the year in 2004-05 and a second-team all-Canadian a year ago, tallied 15 kills and seven digs against the QSSF-leading Carabins on Friday and added 16 kills and 19 digs against the Rouge et Or on Saturday. With the two victories, Sherbrooke finished second in the QSSF standings, one game ahead of No. 6 McGill (15-6), and secured home-court advantage for the best-of-three semifinal series between the two teams, set to get under way on Friday night. Moncton volleyball player lise Bourque, Ottawa volleyball player Christine Lamey and Saskatchewan hockey player Vanessa Frederick were also nominated for the womens award. Doornenbal, a second-year student from Edmonton made only two errors on 36 kill attempts for a stellar .639 hitting percentage as the No. 10 Spartans (8-8) split a two-game series with the No. 4 UBC Thunderbirds (13-5) to remain in the race for fourth place in the ultra-competitive Canada West conference. The six-foot-six middle had 12 kills and just one error on 17 attempts in a 3-2 loss on Friday and followed up with 13 kills and one error on 19 tries on Saturday as Trinity Western rebounded with a five-set win of its own. Going into the final weekend of the regular season, the Spartans are locked in a three-way tie for fourth place in the West with No. 7 Thompson Rivers and No. 8 Brandon. Pruneau, une tudiante de quatrime anne en psychoducation originaire de Windsor, Qu., a excell tant loffensive quen dfensive le week-end dernier, rcoltant 31 attaques marquantes et 26 rcuprations pour mener le Vert & Or (16-5), class huitime au pays, deux gains cruciaux en cinq manches aux dpens des Carabins de Montral (18-3), No. 5 au Top 10 national, et du Rouge et Or de Laval, finaliste de SIC lanne dernire. Choisie recrue de lanne au pays en 2004-2005 et membre de la deuxime quipe dtoiles de SIC la saison dernire, lattaquante de 57 a amass 15 attaques marquantes et sept rcuprations vendredi face aux Carabins, avant dajouter 16 attaques payantes et 19 rcuprations le lendemain face au Rouge et Or. Grce ces deux victoires, Sherbrooke a termin le calendrier rgulier en deuxime place au sein de la FQS, un match devant les Martlets de McGill (15-6), ce qui vaut au Vert & Or lavantage du terrain en vue de la srie demi-finale au meilleur de trois rencontres que se disputeront les deux formations partir de vendredi soir.
