John, a third-year commerce student from Unionville, Ont. allowed only one goal in two games this past weekend including a 2-0 shutout of No. 3-ranked Laurier (20-2-1-0). On Friday night, the 21-year-old junior single-handedly beat the four-time defending OUA champion Hawks as her Golden Gaels (10-8-6-0) were outshot 41-12, including 13-2 in both the first and second periods. She added 24 saves on Saturday in a 4-1 win over cross-town rival Waterloo, losing her bid for a second straight whitewash with less than 14 minutes left in the contest. StFX hockey player Amanda Church, UQAM basketball player Karine Boudrias and UBC swimmer Annamay Pierse were also nominated for the womens award. Ramasawmy, a second-year marketing student from Toronto turned aside 99 shots in two outings as the Lions (13-9-0-3) defeated No. 10-ranked McGill (15-7-0-1) and Guelph (10-12-0-3) to extend their winning streak to six games, the teams longest roll since 2003-04. Playing for injured starter Carlo De Rienzo, the six-foot-one, 180-pound sophomore faced 53 shots on back-to-back nights, stopping 49 pucks Friday as York upset the Redmen 6-4 and adding 50 saves on Saturday in a 4-3 shootout win over the Gryphons to finish the weekend with a sparkling .934 save percentage.
