These are the last CIS athlete of the week selections for the fall semester. The weekly awards will resume on Wednesday, Jan. 9. Harper, a fourth-year social sciences student from Lumsden, Sask. led the third-ranked Dinos (8-2) to a pair of marathon five-set wins over archrivals, the No. 5 Alberta Pandas (7-3), who held the No. 3 spot in the national Top 10 before the weekend series. After replacing injured Melanie Miazga midway through the series opener Saturday, the five-foot-nine right-side hitter had the match of her career on Sunday exploding for 24 kills, 10 digs, two service aces, one block and 26.5 points. Cape Breton basketball player Kelsey Hodgson, Laval track and field athlete Laurlie Harvey and Laurentian basketball player Darrah Bumstead were also nominated for the womens award. McIntyre, a first-year recreation student from Waterloo, Ont. averaged 27 points per game, including a career-high 37 on Friday, as the Warriors defeated York and Laurentian. The six-foot-three guard drained seven three-pointers, one shy of the team single-game record, in an 82-72 win over the Lions in the first end of the doubleheader, and scored four of his 17 points in the last minute in a tight 71-68 victory over the Voyageurs on Saturday. Cape Breton basketball player Eric Breland, McGill hockey player Guillaume Demers and Calgary basketball player Henry Bekkering were the other male nominees.
