Bettez, a second-year management student from Sept-les, Que., established single-game school records for assists and points last Saturday as the No. 1-ranked and reigning CIS champion Martlets (6-0) beat Concordia 16-1. The 5-foot-4 forward, who was voted CIS rookie of the year last season, tallied two markers and set up five others to earn points on seven of McGills school-record 16 goals. The 21-year-old leads the nation in scoring with 22 points, including eight goals, in only six conference games. Cape Breton basketball player Karmen Brown, Laurentian basketball player Darrah Bumstead and Calgary volleyball player Lauren Perry were also nominated for the womens award. Roche, a fourth-year engineering student from Ottawa, scored five times in two games to help the Warriors (7-3-2) remain in a tie for second place in the competitive OUA Far West Division with wins over Brock and Guelph. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound forward had his first hat trick of the season last Friday night in a 5-4 overtime victory over the Badgers, then added two goals, including the game-winner, in a 4-1 over the Gryphons on Saturday. St. Francis Xavier basketball player Christian Upshaw, McGill hockey player Danny Mireault and UBC volleyball player Steve Gotch were the other male nominees. Bettez, une tudiante de deuxime anne en management originaire de Sept-les, Qu., a tabli des records dquipe pour les assistances et les points samedi dernier alors que les Martlets (6-0), classes premires au pays et championnes en titre de SIC, disposaient de Concordia par 16-1. Lattaquante de 54, nomme recrue par excellence de SIC la saison dernire, a amass deux buts et cinq assistances, rcoltant ainsi des points sur sept des 16 filets de McGill. La patineuse de 21 ans domine le classement des marqueuses de SIC avec 22 points, dont huit buts, en seulement six parties. Les basketteuses Karmen Brown, de Cap-Breton, et Darrah Bumstead, de Laurentian, de mme que la volleyeuse Lauren Perry, de Calgary, taient galement en lice du ct fminin.
